David Michael Barr, 72 of Port Matilda (Stormstown), PA died June 12, 2026 surrounded by his family.
He was born on August 16, 1953, in Bellefonte, PA to the late David Samuel Barr of Tyrone and Helen Grace Meyer of State College. He was preceded in death by his infant brother Timothy and his nephew David C. Baldner.
He is survived by his four children, Michael Troy Barr (Elizabeth Stevens), Travis Paul Barr (Barbara), Kristi Lynne Barr (Harold Woodruff, III.), Matthew Marion Barr (Carla), 8 grandchildren (Cassandra, Emily, Ian, Natalie, Owen, Olivia, Madelyn and Izabella), 5 great-grandchildren and an extended family of friends.
He was a member of Grays United Methodist Church, near Stormstown. He was a 1971 Graduate of State College Area High School. He wrestled and was active in 4-H and FFA. He owned and operated the Barfarm in Halfmoon Township. He served one term as a Halfmoon Township Supervisor where he was an active proponent for the Open Space Land Preservation to prevent the over development of rich farmland into residential subdivisions. He loved the sport of wrestling, enjoyed collecting farm toys and operating farm equipment. He did custom combining throughout Centre County and worked for his father’s business, Century 21 Appraisals. Mike was an advocate for preserving and protecting his farmland for wildlife and in recent years, was focused on wildlife conservation. He was a lifelong farmer – a true “Man of the Land”.
A viewing will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College. He will be interred at Gatesburg Cemetery on Thursday, June 18, 2026 at 3 p.m. and light refreshments and company will be at Grays United Methodist Church after the burial. All are invited to attend a celebration of life service on Friday, July 3, 2026, in Stormstown. Details will be available at a later date.
