Debra R. “Deb” Burfield, 66, formerly of Beech Creek, Pa., passed away peacefully at UPMC Haven Place in Lock Haven, on Friday, February 2, 2024, where she had been a resident since April of 2022.

Born on January 19, 1958, in Bellefonte, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Betty (Bigelow) Burke of Rebersburg.  She was the oldest of four children.  She attended Penns Valley High School and graduated in 1976.

Deb was united in marriage on May 25, 1979, in Monument to Dennis Burfield, who preceded her in death on September 30, 2015.

She was a homemaker most of her life.  She was a babysitter for many children, both family and friends, and became well known as “Aunt Deb”.  Later in life, she worked in the culinary department at Lock Haven Hospital.

Deb was a very kind, compassionate, and giving person.  Some referred to her as a “true friend”.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her great grandchildren, Saige and Gannon Moore, whom she adored beyond measure!  They were the apple of her eye!

She liked playing bingo, playing cards and word games, and making crafts.   She became a Peer Member during her time at Haven Place and was an advocate for patient’s rights.  She made many friends and touched the hearts of many of the staff and residents at Haven Place.  She will surely be missed!

Deb is survived by her daughter, Heather Burfield, and son-in-law Joseph Moore Jr. of Orviston; grandson, Kyle Moore (Raychel Kinley) of Blanchard; great grandchildren; Saige and Gannon Moore of Blanchard; sister; Karen Moton of Rebersburg; brothers; Charles Burke of Rebersburg and Edward Burke (Diane Hevell) of Phillipsburg; sister-in-law; Robin Smith of Beech Creek; brothers-in-law; Dean (Edie) Burfield of Monument; Dan (Brenda) Burfield of Monument; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a nephew, Dean Burfield Jr.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to UPMC Haven Place for all the loving care they provided for Deb. She was comfortable there and felt at home.

Memorial gathering for Debra will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, from 6-7 pm at Singer-Kader-Neff Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 135 West Main Street, in Howard with Pastor Dan Longmore of Marsh Creek Brethren in Christ Church officiating the service starting at 7pm.  Family and friends will be received in the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Memorial contributions can be made to UPMC Haven Place Activities Department in honor of Deb through the funeral home.
