Dolores V. Strouse, 94, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at the Wynwood Personal Care Home in Boalsburg. Born May 23, 1929, in Benner Township, Centre County, she was the daughter of the late Faye E. (McCloskey) Bitner. On May 27, 1977, she married Jerry M. Strouse, who preceded her in death on February 15, 2015.
Dolores had a deep appreciation for nature. She loved all animals. Her flower gardens brought her joy and relaxation while she enjoyed reading, traveling, and exploring new places. She shared a special bond with her dogs and parrot, who brought her comfort and companionship throughout her life.
Dolores enjoyed her time working as the school librarian at Mill Hall Elementary School for nine years while raising her two boys. She loved interacting with both the students and teachers.
Dolores is survived by two sons, Robert C. Bitner II, his partner Lisa Partch of Canyon Country, CA. and Scott M. Bitner, his partner Randy Allison and children Elias and Sydney of Boalsburg; two grandchildren, Matt Bitner of Canyon Country, CA and Brandon Bitner of Las Vegas, NV, and a niece Cynthia Ingraham of Cumming, GA.
The family will hold a private memorial service with entombment at the Centre County Memorial Park. Dolores was passionate about supporting this avian rescue facility and was a member for many years.
