D. Linda (Edder) Nolf, 86, of Pennsylvania Furnace, passed away quietly and peacefully on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, surrounded by her family.
She was born in Avonmore, PA, (Westmorland County) on July 9, 1938, a daughter of the late Elmer V. and Martha (Shoemaker) Edder.
Linda began school in Avonmore. She lived in Saltsburg, Salina, and Clarksburg prior to moving to Renovo, PA as a senior in high school in the fall of 1955. Her brothers said,”Linda made lifelong friends wherever she went, it was like she had always lived there.” She graduated from Renovo High School in 1956.
In 1964, she was co-owner of the Burns Dairy Farm in Gatesburg, where she was instrumental in the daily operations of the farm. She then went to work at Jostens in 1972, first as a secretary, then promoted to yearbook consultant. She remained with the company for 34 years until her retirement.
Linda will always be remembered as an individual who,” Never met a stranger.” She was a kind, warmhearted person. She had a profound sense of humor and would do anything for those in need. Her smile was infectious! She was a loving mother, cherished Mimi, devoted sister and friend. She loved to crochet items for her family. She also was an avid quilter. She enjoyed road trips and her favorite dessert, ice cream. Her spunky attitude gave us all a run for our money.
In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her sister, Shirley (Edder) Applebee; brothers, Rev. Merritt Edder; James Edder and John “Jack” Edder.
She is survived by two brothers, Terry Edder of Aliquippa, PA and Tom Edder (Ina) of Kissimmee, FL. She is also survived by two sons, David A. Burns (Toni), and Kenneth K. Burns (Tracy); a daughter, Penny L. DeArmitt (Benny); grandchildren, Cassie O’Toole (Eric), Lily Roman (Peter), Kevin Burns, Adam Burns, SSGT Justin DeArmitt (Alexis) US Army National Guard and Tyler DeArmitt, four great grandchildren and also many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Friday, April 4, 2025 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Haky/Georgiana Centre County Funeral Home,1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 5th at 10:00AM at the same location. Burial will immediately follow the funeral service at Gatesburg Cemetery.
