Douglas L. McClellan, Sr., 70, of (Hudson) RD Philipsburg, died Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Douglas was born on March 6, 1956, in ( North) Philipsburg; a son of the late Lena P. McClellan and the late Bernard Navasky.

He was a 1974 graduate of the Philipsburg – Osceola Area High School. Following high school, he served in the US Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War era.

Doug enjoyed a working career that included a variety of occupations. Most notably, he was employed with River Hill Coal Company; served as an inspector for two Commonwealth of Pa. state level agencies and on the local government level as a police officer and as a Decatur Township supervisor.

Doug was an active member in several area organizations that included; the Philipsburg B.P.O. Elks Lodge & Country Club, Lodge # 1173; the Philipsburg American Legion, Post # 437; Clearfield L.O.O.Moose, Lodge # 97; a member and Past-Chief of the Chester Hill Hose Company; and a member of the former Moshannon Lodge that is now merged with the Osceola Lodge #515, F.& A.M.

Among his favorite pastimes, “DJ Doug,” as he was known, was an accomplished drummer and singer. He could be found on Friday nights performing for his friends at his favorite venue, Casanova Nostalgia in Munson.

Aside from his musical talents, he was also gifted with a sense of humor, quick wit and charm that could captivate an audience. He had a knack for his creative storytelling, views on life and even entertain folks with an impression or two.

He is survived by a daughter, Erica Renee Kertis and her husband, “A.J.,” of Boalsburg; a son, Douglas L. McClellan, Jr., of (Hudson) RD Philipsburg; two grandchildren that had his full devotion, Connor Charles and Logan Henry; two sisters, Paula Colose and RoseAnn Cutler, both of North Fort Myers, Florida and his two “bonus sisters,” Sandy and Susan Bell; his longtime partner, Denise A. Maines; Denise’s two daughters, Alicia Maines and Bethany Benson, her husband, Jeremy, and their son, Doug’s “Lil Buddy,” Denver; and numerous other extended family members and friends. 

The family will receive guests on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, from 2 to 8 pm at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 719 E. Spruce St., Philipsburg.

There will be an Elks service conducted by the  B.P.O. Elks Lodge #1173 on Tuesday at the funeral home beginning at 7:30 pm; it will be immediately followed by a Masonic service conducted by the Osceola Lodge #515, F.& A.M.  

A memorial service and celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at 11 am, at the First Church of Christ, 1437 Tyrone Pike, Philipsburg, with Rev. Timothy Richmond, officiating. Military Honors will be accorded at the church immediately following the service.
