Edward Vance Peters, 79, of Milesburg, passed away at home on Friday, April 17, 2026, while being surrounded by the place he loved the most. Born on November 10, 1946, in New Jersey, he was the son of the late Vernen “Pete” Peters and Laura Louise Myers. After losing his mother at a very young age, Pete married Eleanor, who raised Edward as her own.
Edward lived a full and meaningful life defined by connection, hard work, and a genuine love for people. He spent much of his career working in food services at Penn State, including time at the hospital snack bar and managing a Subway, where he became a familiar and friendly face to so many. Whether serving a meal or sharing a conversation, Ed had a natural gift for making others feel seen, welcomed, and valued. He left a lasting impression on nearly everyone he met.
A proud graduate of Bald Eagle High School, Ed was a dedicated athlete who played both football and wrestled – interests that stayed with him throughout his life. As an adult, he enjoyed being part of the men’s Unionville Baseball team for a few years while wife and young children would sit in the stands and cheer him on. He remained a passionate supporter of Bald Eagle wrestling and Penn State athletics, rarely missing a chance to cheer them on. His love of sports extended to his favorite professional teams as well, especially the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies, which he followed with unwavering loyalty.
In his younger years, Ed had a strong sense of adventure and spent time traveling and living in various states, embracing new experiences and meeting people along the way. No matter where life took him, he carried his warmth, humor, and easygoing spirit with him.
Above all, Ed was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Patricia A. (Toot); his children, Rick A. Peters of State College, Ron E. Peters of Bellefonte, Debbie M. Peters and her significant other, Lauren Hahn, of Bellefonte, and Dylan E. Peters and his wife, Stevie, of Bellefonte; his grandson, Oakley Peters; his brother, Robert “Pete” Peters (Connie) and Valerie Nyman (David), both of Bellefonte; and numerous nieces and nephews. His family was his greatest pride and joy, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Along with his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his sister, Darlene Peters Lyons.
