Evelyn Eileen Krouse Donovan, known as Eileen, died on June 9, 2026 at Wynwood House in State College, Pennsylvania at the age of 100. Eileen was born on April 19, 1926 in Bolivar, PA and was raised in Charles, Boltz, Armagh and Cramer, small villages around Johnstown, PA. Her young childhood was short-lived as her mother passed away from an ectopic pregnancy five months after the birth of her brother, Robert (August 23, 1927). She was raised by her, father, grandmother Sannie Krouse and beginning in 1934 her stepmother, Helen Catherine Stephens Krouse.

Eileen graduated from Armagh High School in 1943 and enrolled in Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital Nursing School where she graduated in 1946. Eileen also volunteered and worked as a Nurse Cadet during WWII, 1943-1946. Eileen worked as a nurse, often in the operating room at Mercy Hospital, Sunbury Hospital, Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital, Jersey Shore Hospital and Clearfield Hospital General. This was a fitting career for Eileen as she learned from a young age to always care for others.

On August 14, 1949, Eileen married Robert Hoover Donovan, who predeceased her on October 12, 2003 as well as her parents, Jacob and Birdie Mae (Warfel) Krouse and her brother Robert Krouse. She is survived by her son Douglas (Shirley) Donovan and Debra (Jeffrey) Morgan. Three grandchildren Matthew (Sarah Rito) Donovan and Kari Anne Donovan and Evan Morgan (Casey Covatta) and two great grandchildren Xavier and Elizabeth “Luka” Donovan also survive.

Both Bob and Eileen were active for many years in square dancing, round dancing, senior games, bocce and shuffleboard, as well as many different crafts. Travels were also a big part of their lives. Their first adventures were in RV’s which allowed them to travel to almost all of the states in the United States and eventually to winter home in Florida. International travels included: England, Holland, Germany Austria, Italy, Spain, Morocco, Portugal, Switzerland, France, Canada and Mexico. They always returned home with stories, pictures and small gifts for all. Eileen enjoyed her times at the Senior Center in State College and volunteering at the Food Bank in State College. She was quick to pick up a new game and ready to listen and share a good joke.

Eileen was fortunate to spend the past six years as a resident of Juniper Village and then Wynwood House where she received exceptional, loving care. Also, Eileen received exceeding compassionate support from the staff of Pinnacle Palliative Care, which is much appreciated by all of her family

A private committal service will take place at a later time. Funeral arrangements have been made with Koch Funeral Home.
