Freda E. McCloskey, 95, of Snow Shoe, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 19, 2026, in Snow Shoe at home with her granddaughters by her side. Born on March 3, 1930, in Bellefonte, she was the daughter of the late John and Lydia (Zimmerman) Kline. On May 28, 1949, she married Glen McCloskey, who preceded her in death on November 18, 1985.

Freda attended school in Bellefonte. She was a faithful member of Clarence United Methodist Church and later attended the Snow Shoe United Methodist Church. Early in her working years, she was employed at Centre Crest then Piper Aircraft. After the plant closed, Freda devoted her life to her family as a full-time wife, mother, and grandmother—a role she cherished and excelled in.

An excellent baker, Freda found joy in sharing her baked goods with family and friends. She also loved playing bingo and would always have goodies to share with the regulars. Freda was deeply community-minded and took great interest in keeping up with local news and the lives of those around her. Freda was the “Gram” to everyone even those beyond her own family.

Above all else, Freda loved her family and was immensely proud of their accomplishments.

She is survived by eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren, as well as her daughter-in-law, Ruth Barcosky who overlooked her needs for many-many years.

In addition to her parents, Freda was preceded in death by her children, Glen McCloskey Jr.(2009), Robert McCloskey (2017), and Wanda Chambers (2004); one grandchild; one great-grandchild; and fourteen siblings. Freda was the last surviving member of her generation.

In accordance with Freda’s wishes, all services will be private. She will be laid to rest at Centre County Memorial Park, beside her beloved husband, Glen.

Freda’s family extends heartfelt gratitude to her private care aides and the UPMC Hospice staff for their compassionate care and support over the past eight months.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, Inc., Snow Shoe. An online guestbook may be signed and condolences shared at www.daughenbaughfuneralhome.com.
