Gloria J. Jeffries, 89, formerly of Moshannon, passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at the Jefferson Manor Care in Brookville, PA. Born on April 24, 1931, in Clearfield, she was the oldest child of the late Basil C. and Elva B. (Parks) Bumbarger. She was married to Joseph C. Biggans and then divorced, then she married John K. Jeffries. John preceded Gloria in death.

Gloria attended the Clarence School. She was a van driver for the Centre County Government, driving the Senior Citizens van for many years before retiring. She loved her job and made a lot of friends throughout the years while driving. 

Gloria was of the Methodist faith and attended the Moshannon United Methodist Church.

Gloria was an excellent baker. She baked pies for Max Rees’ Truck Stop for many years. People would come from all over to get her pies. She enjoyed playing golf and reading books. She was an avid gardener, both floral and vegetable. She loved watching the birds. She had a great knowledge of birds and if she did not know he type of bird that was feeding in her feeder, she would look it up in her bird book. She would look forward to the family reunion each year so she could see her family, which she adored. 

While living in Maryland, Gloria and John opened their home as foster parents to new born babies. They would care for the babies until adopting families were found. They did this for over 20 years. 

Gloria is survived by her two children: Joseph C. Biggans and his wife, Kathy, of Lusby, MD and Brenda J. Snyder of Rochester, MN; five grandchildren: Jan Biggans, Harmoni, Thompson, John Biggans, Kyle Snyder, and Chad Snyder; and six great grandchildren: Charlotte, Joseph, Mary Jane, Blake, Grayson, and Mia.

Also surviving are Gloria’s two brothers: Gerald Bumbarger and his wife, Patsy, of Milesburg, and Gary Bumbarger and his wife, Linda, of Drifting and one sister, Carol Edelmann and her husband, John, of Street MD.

Along with her parents and husband, Gloria was preceded in death by two brothers: James Bumbarger and John Bumbarger, and two sisters: Betty Hahn and Shirley Hockenberry.

A memorial service will be held in the spring of 2021.
