Harry C. Whitman, 90, of Spring Mills, formerly of Boalsburg, died Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Mount Nittany Medical Center.

Born May 22, 1936, in State College, he was the son of the late George C. Whitman and Elma C. Hendershot Whitman. Harry was a resident of Boalsburg for 48 years, before moving to Spring Mills in 2024. On October 11, 1958, at Blanchard Church of Christ, he married Gail Lucille Barnhart, who survives. Harry and Gail were together for over 70 years. 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Cindy Whitman Grove and her husband Dennis Lee Grove of Centre Hall, and Barbara A. Judy of Spring Mills; four sisters, Doris France and her husband Roy of Honey Brook, Lois Gibson and her husband Paul of State College, Gail Vonada of Centre Hall, and Marcia Williams of East Earl; three grandchildren, Ashley Mason (Chris), Alanna Steffens (Patrick), and April Judy (Martin St. John); and five great-grandchildren, Taylor, Ryan, Charles, Parker and Harrison (“Harry”). 

Harry graduated from State College High School in 1955. He served as a sergeant in the United States Army Reserves. He retired from Chemcut Corporation after 30 years as a senior machine specialist. He was a member of Pine Hall Lutheran Church. 

Harry loved anything with a motor and wheels. An avid fan of anything related to automobiles. He attended years of shows, cruise-ins and cross-country tours. He restored multiple antique cars to their original showroom glory. Several of his restorations received presidential honors at competitions. He also was a member of the Allegheny Mountain Region Car Club and Mid-State Mopars & More. 

There will be a Celebration of Harry’s Life at Pine Hall Lutheran Church at a later date. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Pine Hall Lutheran Church, 1760 W. College Ave., State College, PA 16801.
