Harvey H. Redcay, 72, of Pine Glen, passed away peacefully at his home after a short illness on Tuesday, April 5, 2022. Born on November 23, 1949, in Hershey, PA, he was the son of the late Eli and Beulah (Hippensteel) Redcay.
Harvey attended the Lower Dauphin High School. He enlisted in the US Army on February 27, 1970, and received his honorable discharge on January 13, 1972. He earned the rank of SP4 and received the National Defense Service Medal, First Class Badge Hand Grenade, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Marksman Badge M-16 for his years of service.
Harvey worked as a machine operator for AMP for over 25 years. He attended the Pine Glen United Methodist Church.
Harvey enjoyed hunting, golfing, yard work, and riding motorcycles, especially his Harley. He liked all sports, primarily all the teams from Philadelphia. He was a member of the Snow Shoe VFW Post 5644, Clarence American Legion Post 813, Clarence Democratic Club, The Mosquito Creek Sportsman’s Club,
Sinnemahoning Sportsman’s Club, and the Clarence Moose.
Harvey is survived by his former wife, friend and caregiver, Sharon (VanNote) Redcay of Morrisdale, granddaughter, Hayle M. Redcay of Mechanicsburg, one sister, Janet Reimer and her
husband, Kent, of Arizona, and four brothers: Leroy Redcay of Elizabethtown, Reuben Redcay and his wife, Patricia, of Mount Joy, Kenneth Redcay and his wife, Betsy, of Elizabethtown, and
Steven Redcay of Elizabethtown.
Along with his parents, Harvey was preceded in death by his son, Christopher L. Redcay who died July 3, 2011, one sister, Esther Risser, and three brothers: Ralph Redcay, Donald Redcay, and Merle Redcay.
Public viewing with be on Saturday, April 9, 2022, from 2-4pm at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Snow Shoe. Funeral will be on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at 4pm at the funeral home with Pastor Ryan Parrish officiating. Full military honors will be given following the funeral service. Burial will be at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
