James D. McCool, 89, of Bellefonte passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at Heritage Ridge Senior Living in Philipsburg. He was born on August 26, 1936, in Bellefonte, PA to the late James Edward and Mary Ruth (Stere) McCool. He was married to his beloved wife, Barbara L. (Fry) McCool, who preceded him in death in 2021.
Jim was a 1955 graduate of Bellefonte Area High School. He worked for over 45 years at MuRata Erie until his retirement.
Jim is survived by his three sons, Michael McCool and his wife Carolyn, Thomas McCool and his wife Leslie and Kevin McCool and his wife Karla, his sister, Donna Graves and husband Jim, and seven grandchildren: Amanda, David, Ashley, Rebecca, Wyatt, Kelsey, and Kiaha, and five great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Donna Graves (Jim).
In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Ken, Tom, and Barbara.
Jim was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bellefonte.
A public viewing will be held on Monday, August 24, 2026, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM, at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 N. Spring Street, Bellefonte. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM, at the funeral home, with Pastor Greg Shipe officiating. Burial services will immediately follow at Zion Cemetery.
