Janet L. Vonada, 86, of Port Matilda, passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College. Born February 6, 1939, in Bellefonte, she was the daughter of the late Charles W. Martin and Meriam (Long) Owens. On October 20, 1956, in Pleasant Gap, she married her beloved husband, Jerry Samuel Vonada, who survives at home after sharing 68 years of marriage together.
Janet was a 1956 graduate of Bellefonte High School. She worked as a hostess at the Corner Room and at the A&P.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three children, Steven Vonada (Vern) of Allensville, Gary Vonada (Lisa) of State College, and Cindy Gates (William) of State College, 11 grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, Leroy Martin, and a sister, Kathryn Cox.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by 11 siblings.
Janet’s hobbies varied from playing BINGO to bowling for the league that she was a member of. She also enjoyed going antiquing and crocheting.
Funeral and burial services will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
