It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Jo Anne Fischer. Born on May 11, 1949, in Bellmore, NY, she passed away peacefully on May 11, 2026, at Mt. Nittany Medical Center in State College, PA. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 43 years, Charles H. Fischer.
Jo Anne is survived by her three children: Paul C. Fischer and his spouse Jane of Osceola Mills, PA; Becky Fischer and her spouse Nancy Smith of Lemont, PA; and Jessica Rakes and her spouse Brian Bauer of Lemont, PA. She also leaves behind her pride and joy, her five grandchildren: Alisha Cartwright, Carter Fischer, Sara Saxon, Clayton Rakes, and Trevor Rakes.
Throughout her life, Jo Anne was dedicated to serving others. She worked for the Red Cross in State College and Centre Peace in Bellefonte, while also volunteering for many other local organizations.
In lieu of a memorial service, flowers, or charitable donations, the family asks that you honor her memory by doing something kind for someone today. Your kindness and generosity might just change someone’s life.
