Karen Marie Watson, 53, of Howard, passed away at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, on Friday, October 21, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Tyrone on February 14, 1969, a daughter of the late Charles M. Gill, and Theresa J. Romano Gill of Tyrone.
Karen graduated from Tyrone High School and received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Lock Haven University. Over the years she served her community as a nurse in home care, the Lock Haven and Mount Nittany hospitals and most recently at University Orthopedics in State College. She would go on to receive numerous awards for her services as a nurse as she truly loved her work and helping people.
She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Thomas E. Watson, on July 28, 1990, and they would spend 32 years together. He survives at their home. They would be blessed with two sons, Tyler (Hanna Fisher) Watson and Emery (Nicole Murray) Watson both of Howard, two grandsons, Lincoln Emery Watson and Rhett Alan Hancock. She is also survived by a brother, Charles Gill Jr., three sisters, Mary (Barry) Frye, Theresa (Terry) Smith, and Lucille (Jeff) Boyer, and her faithful dogs, Bella and Daisey. Along with her father she was also preceded by a sister, Carol A. Bonsell (Gill).
Karen loved anything that involved spending time with her family, her dogs, nursing, playing games, fishing, helping others, and life itself! She also volunteered for Special Olympics. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held in the future with dates and times to be announced when finalized.
