Linda Louise (Irwin) Emel, 75, of Bellefonte, has gone home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, after a brief battle with leukemia. Born on November 9, 1950, in Bellefonte, she was the daughter of the late Paul Irwin and Louise (Badner) Peace. On July 11, 1970, she married her devoted husband, Samuel F. Emel, Sr., who survives at home after sharing nearly 56 years of marriage together.
Linda was a 1969 graduate of Bald Eagle Area High School and went on to graduate from beauty school. She worked for many years at Centre Crest in Bellefonte, starting in the laundry to Nurse’s Aide, to housekeeping, until her retirement.
In addition to her husband, Samuel, she is survived by her children, Samuel F. Emel, Jr. (Melissa) of Philipsburg, and Carrie L. Emel of Julian; her beloved grandchildren, Mollie K. Emel and Samuel F. Emel, III. Also surviving is a brother, James P. Irwin (Linda) of Nazareth, PA, nephew James R. Irwin, and her cherished sister, Cindy A. Irwin of Bellefonte.
Linda loved to rejoice in the lord and was a devout Christian all her life. Linda also enjoyed crochet and collecting, she had an extensive collection of Angels, bells, crystal baskets and decorative tea pots.
A small private service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
