Lisa D. McMonagle, 65, of State College, PA, passed away peacefully at her home in the early afternoon of a pleasant sunny Sunday, March 30, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.

Born on August 7, 1959, Lisa was the daughter of the late Mona R. (Stiver) McMonagle and the late Daniel A. McMonagle. Lisa and her husband, Richard “Rich or Rick” Kacinko, lived the last 27 years of their lives together, the love of one another’s life. They shared much joy, laughter, and tenderness.

A proud graduate of Bald Eagle Area High School, 1977, and Penn State University, 1981, Lisa enjoyed a fulfilling career as a coordinator and teacher of English as a Second Language for Adults, at Penn State (and other local agencies), a role she deeply cherished.

Lisa‘s greatest passion was poetry, both writing and reading. She fulfilled a lifelong dream when she had a book of poetry published in 2024, “Allegheny Women”, Poems, Lisa McMonagle.

Lisa was a member of the State College Poetry Workshop for more than 10 years and was the driving force behind the Youth Ekphrastic Contest at the Bellefonte Art Museum. She was a pleasure to work with, always offering help and encouragement to her fellow poets.

Lisa enjoyed quiet conversations with her husband, Rich, her deeply loved younger brother Keith, and a handful of dear, dear friends. She found joy in leisurely walks and rides, and traveling. She loved hanging out with what she called her angel-cat, Jack, a cherished part of her life. Lisa loved going to yard sales and thrift stores, more for enjoying time with her friends, than finding a bargain.

In addition to her devoted husband, Lisa is survived by her brother, Keith E. McMonagle, and his wife, Kim, of West Decatur, along with a wide circle of wonderful friends.

Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Friday, April 4, 2025, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Milesburg. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Bald Eagle Baptist Church, 6644 S Eagle Valley Rd, Port Matilda, PA 16870, with Pastor Dave Hersh officiating.
