Lynda A. Kasmala, 78, of State College, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at Celebration Villa.
Born on October 3, 1947, in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late William P. and Marian E. (VanPopering) Aument.
Lynda was a 1969 graduate of Penn State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in French Education. She devoted more than 40 years to teaching French at both State College middle schools. A dedicated and passionate educator, she loved her students and enriched their learning by leading numerous educational trips to France and England. Her joyful approach to teaching and deep care for her students made her truly exceptional.
Lynda took great pride in her gardening and transformed her lawn into a showcase of beauty that was admired by neighbors and friends alike. In recent years she invited friends to take and replant her flowers, hoping they would continue to bloom as a lasting reminder of her.
She is survived by her son, Peter Kasmala and his wife, Holly, of Baltimore, Maryland; her brother, David W. Aument and his wife, Meg, of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania; and her sister, Julie E. Hassinger and her husband, Ken, of Runville.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial open house at her long-time residence, 1529 Cromer Dr., State College, PA 16803, on Sunday, May 31, 2026, from 1-3pm.
