Marjorie Lowery, 91, of Nittany Valley Drive, Bellefonte, PA, passed away on Friday, May 8, 2026, at home surrounded by her family. She was born on February 11, 1935 in Bellefonte, PA, a daughter of the late Harold and Martha Sampsel. On June 20, 1953, she was united in marriage to the late John Lowery, Sr, who preceded her in death on May 18, 2024, after sharing over 70 years of marriage together.
Marjorie graduated from Centre Hall Potter High School. She spent time working on the family farm, Riverside Market, Bellefonte Elementary School, and Barry Bierly’s Meat Market.
She is survived by her children, Linda Dutrow (Barry), John Lowery, Jr., Diane Snyder, Mike Lowery, Brian Lowery (Dona), Jody Lowery, Sue Peters (Troy), and Christine Doster. Also surviving are her sisters, Edie and Dick Sodergren and family, Gladys Sampsel and family, brothers, Miles and Joyce Sampsel and family, Paul and Carol Sampsel and family, Dave and Carol Sampsel and family, Scott and Mary Sampsel and family, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
Marjorie was a member of the Zion Community Church. She enjoyed going to church, spending time with family, camping, word finds, and playing dominoes with friends.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 135 West Main Street, Howard. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026, at 10:00 AM, at the funeral home, with Pastor Tim Yates officiating. Burial services will immediately follow at Hublersburg Cemetery in Hublersburg.
