Mark D. Heintzelman, 67, of Belleville, formerly of Centre Hall, passed away Thursday, January 14, 2021, at his home with his loving wife by his side.

He was born February 28, 1953, at home on a farm near McAllisterville, Monroe Township, Juniata County, PA; a son of the late William Levi and Blanche Mary (Houseworth) Heintzelman.

On October 6, 1973, he married Marlene A. (Thomas) Heintzelman who survives in Belleville. They were married for 46 wonderful years.

He enjoyed reading, classic cars, especially late 60’s and early 70’s muscle cars and going to car shows.

Mark was a 1971 graduate of Middleburg High School, earned an associate degree from what was the Williamsport Community College, a certificate in Business Management from Susquehanna University, Selinsgrove, and an associate degree in Mortuary Science from Catonsville School of Mortuary Science in Catonsville, MD. 

At age 10; Mark was offered a job with the Garman Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant Mills, mowing, washing cars, cleaning and other chores around the funeral home. Beginning in 1978, he served his internship at the Dale E. Rank Funeral Services in Milton. In 1981, he purchased the former David J. Jeffries Funeral Home and Furniture Store in Centre Hall. In 2005, he merged with what was then the Kyper Funeral Home in State College and served as Funeral Director and General Manager of both locations until 2016, when health issues necessitated a change in duties. In 2016, he became the Community Outreach and Education Director for the State College location. In 2017, the Centre Hall Funeral Home was sold to John Daughenbaugh. 

Mark served as the Mayor of Centre Hall Borough from 1986-2005. He was a member of the Centre Hall Lions Club and a long time member of State College Bethel Church of the Nazarene. 

Mark is survived by his wife Marlene; one daughter Mirinda Heintzelman of Muncy, three grandchildren, (his adopted daughter’s biological children.) Chloe, Landon, and Hunter Boob Cort; a step granddaughter Emily Boob, and one sister -in- law, Darlene Heintzelman of Mt. Pleasant Mills; and five nieces and nephews, Roger, Barry, Crystal, Dean and Alma.

Mark was an amazing man who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Due to Covid-19, there will be no services at this time. A memorial service will be announced in the spring.
