Barbara Helen Loman Arnold, 79, of Colyer, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, December 7, 2009 at her residence.
She was born April 22, 1930, in Norristown, a daughter of the late Harold and Helen Mierly Loman.
On January 27, 1951, she married William H. Arnold who survives at home.
Barbara graduated from State College High School in 1948, and attended the Penn State University from 1948 through 1951.
In addition to being a homemaker, she and her husband operated Arnold’s Upholstery from 1968 to 2005.
The well being of children was an important part of Mrs. Arnold’s life, leading her to devote seven years as a Girl Scout Leader, and serving as a school bus driver in the Penns Valley School District from 1969 to 1979. She was a faithful and devoted member of Grace United Methodist Church in Centre Hall since 1968, where she served as a Sunday School teacher. A person of varied interests and abilities, she especially loved sewing, knitting, spending time out of doors, photography, and gardening.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters, Eileen Stover and her husband Fred of Woodward, Lois Bair and her husband Larry of rural Spring Mills; one son, Kenneth Arnold and his wife Deborah of Colyer; one sister, Marilyn Dodd of Houston, TX; nine grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
A memorial service celebrating Barbara’s life, will be held on Friday, December 18, 2009 at 10:30 a. m. at Grace United Methodist Church, 127 S. Pennsylvania Ave. Centre Hall with the Reverend Judith Hulslander officiating. Friends will be received in the Ash Fellowship Hall of the church immediately following the memorial service. At 2:00 p. m. a graveside committal service will be held at Zion Hill Cemetery, Church Hill Road, Centre Hall, PA.
