Betty J. Rowe Gustafson, 90 of Jersey Shore and formerly of Beech Creek, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at the Jersey Shore Hospital. She was born on May 12, 1925 in Beech Creek, the daughter of the late William C. and Mary M. Walker Peter.
On June 17, 1942, Betty married Harvey W. Rowe, who preceded her in death on July 15, 1968.
On June 29, 1974, Betty married Carl W. Gustafson, who also preceded her in death on September 25, 1986.
Betty was a homemaker and also worked at Sylvania, Woolrich and Piper.
She was a life member of the Blanchard Church of Christ.
Betty was a 75 year member of the Beech Creek Grange.
She enjoyed baking and frequently attended the bazaar at the Beech Creek-Blanchard Community Center, where she would display her wares.
Betty was well known for her delicious raisin filled cookies, apple dumplings and Christmas cookies.
She is survived by three daughters; Beverly (Lynn) Tice of Bellefonte, Nancy (Donald) Fravel of Nittany and Darla (Kevin) Johnson of Beech Creek, seven grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren. Betty was also the last of 18 children.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 15, 2015 at the Kader-Neff Funeral Home, 135 Main Street, Howard with the Rev. Wally Kocher officiating. Family and friends will be received from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 14, 2015 at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Christian Cemetery in Blanchard, Pa.
