Betty Jane Keeler Gibboney, 86, of Boalsburg, died on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center in College Township.
Born on March 9, 1926 in Akron, OH, she is a daughter of the late John F. Jr., and Martha L. (Davidson) Keeler.
On May 12, 1945, she was married to James Elwood Gibboney Sr., who preceded her in death on August 7, 2007.
Betty is survived by two sons, James E. Gibboney, Jr. of State College, and John A. Gibboney and his wife Donita of State College; two granddaughters, Cassandra Gibboney and Brianna Madden; six grandsons, Jeremy, Brandon, Justin, Sean and his wife Donna, Stephen and his wife Tirzah, and Daniel; and one great-granddaughter, Jordan Acorda Gibboney.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Barry L. Gibboney, and a sister, Bertha V. Sprout.
Mrs. Gibboney was a 1944 graduate of Bellefonte High School. She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Boalsburg and a member of the Church Woman’s Group. She also was a member of the Boalsburg Senior Citizen’s Club. She especially enjoyed camping at Hidden Valley Campground at Forrest Hill, having camped there since 1971 with her husband.
Betty retired on February 28, 1987 as an Accounting Clerk in the Business Office at Penn State University after 29 years of service.
Betty will be remembered as a warm, kind, sweet person and will be missed dearly.
All services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
