Betty V. Brooks, 87, of Milesburg, died Monday, July 20, 2009, at the Extended Care Unit of Lock Haven Hospital.
Born March 12, 1922 in Tusseyville, she was a daughter of the late John Henry and Virginia Reed Horner. On November 16, 1939, she married David D. Brooks, her husband of 67 years, who preceded her in death.
She was a homemaker. She was a protestant. Through the struggles in her life it was her deep relationship with the Lord that kept her strong. Betty delighted in her family, always baking and cooking their favorite meals. There was never a person that met Betty that didn't like her. Everyone remarked about how sweet and kind she was.
She is survived by two sons, Ronald D. (Donna) Brooks of Julian and Daniel J. (Joan) of rural Howard; three daughters, Patricia L. (Keith) Bowen of Sanford, Fla.; Connie M. (Ron) Rockey of McMurray, and Cathy E. Northamerof Milesburg; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers; four sisters; and one grandson, Robert David Brooks. She was the last of her generation.
Services will be held at the Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home, Milesburg, on Thursday, July 23, 2009, at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Stephen R. Hicks officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday, July 23, 2009 from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M.Burial will be in the Advent Cemetery, Boggs Twp. Arrangements are under the direction of Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home, Milesburg.
