Charles William “Chuck” Marhefka, 74, of Port Matilda, formerly of Apollo, died Friday, November 22, 2013 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born June 3, 1939, in East Vandergrift, he was the son of the late Andrew J. and Sophie C. Pohanka Marhefka. On May 27, 1972, he married Elaine Horgas, who survives. Also surviving is one daughter, Mary Balboni of State College and two grandchildren, Andrew Joseph “AJ” and Taylor Grace Balboni; two brothers, William Marhefka of Vandergrift and Michael Marhefka of Maple Glen; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Marhefka and a granddaughter, Lauren Balboni.

Chuck was a 1957 graduate of Vandergrift High School and attended Penn State University where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He served in the United States Army as a military policeman in Panmunjom, the demilitarized zone between South and North Korea.

Chuck retired as a Purchasing Agent from Hyde Park Foundry. He was an avid golfer on two golf leagues at the Lenape Heights Golf Course for many years. After 33 years of living in Lancer Park, Washington Township, he and Elaine moved back to the State College area in 2010.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m., on Monday, November 25, 2013, at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton Street, State College.

Funeral mass will be 11 a.m., on Tuesday, November 26, 2013, at Our Lady of Victory Church, 820 Westerly Parkway, State College, with Fr. Robert Horgas officiating.

Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park.
