Dean S. Shawver 84 of Howard, passed away Monday, May 9, 2011 at the Centre Crest Nursing Home in Bellefonte. He was born on September 4, 1926 the son of the late Orvis and Minnie Shawver.
On August 14, 1948, he married Rebecca Shaffer she survives at home.
Dean retired from Penn State in 1990 after over 11 years of service. He was a gentleman farmer and enjoyed all aspects of farming, particularly working with animals.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters; Deb McCloskey and husband Jerry of Howard and Connie Emberton of Boalsburg, one son; Dean S., Jr. who survives at home, sisters; Charlotte and Ed Wance, of New Holland, June Bingamande, of Millmont, Rosalene Phillips of New Anthens, Ohio, Nancy and Don Wolfe of Aaronsburg, Faye Stover of Mifflinburg, Janie and Larry Maurel, of Mt. Pleasant Hills, and Dorothy and Maynard Keister of Penns Creek, brothers; Glenn and Barb Shawver of Lewistown, Donald and Rosie Shawver of Portsmouth, N.H. and Albert and Venice Shawver of Florida, three grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother; Harold and a sister Gladys Stover.
Funeral service will be held Friday, May 13, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Kader-Neff Funeral Home, 135 W. Main St., Howard with the Rev. Nancy Kuhns officiating. Friends will be received from 9-11:00 a.m. Friday, at the funeral home prior to the service. Burial will be at the Schencks Cemetery in Howard Twp.
