Elmeda M. Carver, 96 of Unionville passed away Monday, December 12, 2016 at Eagle Valley Personal Care Home, Milesburg. Elmeda was born on August 1, 1920 in Union Twp., Centre Co. a daughter of the late Foster R. and Lillie Mae Weaver Ammerman.
On October 10, 1940, she married Roy E. Carver who preceded her in death on October 24, 1981.
Elmeda had worked at Bald Eagle Area High School in Food Services for 37 years before her retirement. The most important career that she enjoyed was being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She graduated from Bellefonte High School in the class of 1939.
She was a member of Bald Eagle Valley Community United Methodist Church, a member of Unionville Grange #32, Unionville/Julian Sr. Citizens, she helped with the Soup Kitchen in Bellefonte for over 10 years, she enjoyed cooking, sewing and spending time with her grandchildren.
Elmeda is survived by one daughter, Nancy L. (Scott) Mears of Onley, VA and two sons, Ronald E. (Barbara) Carver of rural Julian, and Dale R. (Delores) Carver of Hagerstown, MD. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Maxine Kelly of Philadelphia, Dorothy Bush of Julian, Katherine Trainer of Philadelphia, and one brother, Lawrence Ammerman of Milesburg, and her sisters-in-law, Janet Ammerman and Pauline Ammerman. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Clair Ammerman, Foster Ammerman, Ernest Ammerman and Donald Ammerman.
Services will be held at the Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home, 201 Spring Street, Milesburg on Friday, December 16, 2016 at 3:00 P.M. with Pastors Ronald E. Baker, Dale R. Carver and Rev. Scott Mears officiating.
Family and friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 2 PM until 3 PM at the time of the service. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Union Twp., Centre Co. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Bald Eagle Valley Community United Methodist Church Building Fund, 111 Runville Road, Bellefonte PA 16823, in memory of Elmeda M. Carver.
