Elvira L. Darnell, 93, of Bellefonte passed away Friday, October 18, 2013 at Centre Crest. She was born October 30, 1919 in Newark, New Jersey the daughter of the late George and Lillie Benz Fermelin. She was a secretary for Motor Boating Magazine in New York City. Elvira loved to play bridge, going to the hairdresser, and the Garden Club at Centre Crest. She attended the First Church of Christ Scientist in State College.
On November 22, 1945 she married Robert S. Darnell who preceded her in death on January 22, 2000. She is survived by one daughter, Susan (Wade) Nemith of Bellefonte and one son, Robert T. (Barbara) Darnell of Pipersville. Elvira is also survived by five grandchildren; Karin (Tim) Knisely of Bellefonte, Michael (Amy) Nemith of Crofton, Jennifer (Mark) Shawley of Bellefonte, Jack Darnell and Mitchell Darnell of Pipersville. Also surviving are six great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a sister, Florence Dombo.
Services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. The family appreciates all the care and comfort from the employees at both Centre Crest and Centre Home Care.
