Emily”Em” Driver, 90 of Howard, passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at her home with her loved ones and her cats.
She was born October 2, 1926 in Gloucester, New Jersey, daughter of the late James and Alice Fairweather.
She was united in marriage to Alvin M. Driver on February 23, 1947 at the Cranford Methodist Church, Cranford, New Jersey. Alvin and Emily settled in Millington, New Jersey( The Great Swamp) on 50 acres until retirement in 1978. Alvin preceded her in death on January 11, 2004.
Emily was a member of the Cadet Nurse Corps during World War Two and worked as a registered nurse prior to starting a family.
Emily( The Butterfly Lady) visited local Elementary schools with her Monarch butterfly displays.
She was interested in various forms of art. She studied pastels, watercolors, oils, landscapes, wildlife, and portraits and painted wildlife and pets on wood at craft shows for over 30 years. She also built intricate doll houses for her own collection.
She played the piano and enjoyed listening to classical music into her later years. She taught her great- grandson a few songs.
Emily is survived by three sons, Glenn T. Driver ( Karen) of Howard, Scott M. Driver( Dawn) of Boalsburg, and Ross A. Driver( Jessica) of Howard, and two sisters, Alice Allen of Michigan, and Mary Houtenville of New Jersey, five grandchildren and four great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Betty Wark, Isabel Podeszwa, Ruth LeDuc, and one brother, James Fairweather Jr.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Kader-Neff Funeral Home, 135 W. Main Street, Howard, Pa.,with Rev. J. Ray Baker officiating.
Friends will be received from 3:00- 5;00 p. m. at the Driver's, 725 Summit Hill Road, Howard, Pa.
