Evangeline DeHaas Rupert, 95 of Eagleville, passed away Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Susque-View Nursing Home in Lock Haven. She was born in a little town of Eagleville on November 1, 1921, a daughter of the late Curtis O. and Georgia Fravel DeHaas. She grew up, married and spent her entire life there.

On August 5, 1945, she was united in marriage to the late Floyd Rupert. Her wedding dress was handcrafted from a German Parachute.

Her and her husband was blessed with a daughter Sharon (Ron) Davy of Blanchard and a son, Floyd (Georgette) Rupert Jr., of Beech Creek. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter; Shannon Renea Davy on December 5, 2013.

Evangeline graduated from the Blanchard School and through the years became involved in community activities.

She served in many organizations, and was secretary of them all including the Library Board, Beech Creek and Blanchard Senior Cheer Club, Ladies Friendship Circle, Legion Auxillary, Mill Hall Senior Center and Baptist Cemetery Association. She also a member of the Liberty Baptist Church where she had served as the church clerk, and was a member of the Blanchard Election Board. She attended the Mill Hall Senior Group and the Bellefonte Center. She was also an active member of the DAR. Through the years she was a member of the several Round Robin Pen Pal groups, and was correspondent for both the Centre Daily Times and the Lock Haven Express.

During and after the war years, she was employed at the Sylvania Plant in Mill Hall. She was also employed as a cook at two local day care centers, and as a waitress at Kunes Restaurant in Beech Creek.

Evangeline made time and enjoyed cooking for hunters, and entertaining at a cooking party every Christmas. She alos enjoyed crafting, embroidery, puzzels, and lots of reading.

Services will be private with Rev. Charles Salmon officiating at the convenience of the family with a public memorial service scheduled for a later date and will be announced when determined. Burial will be at Baptist Cemetery in Blanchard, Pa.
