Fred E. Saxion, 86, of Bellefonte, passed away Saturday, November 8, 2012, at Mount Nittany Medical Center in College Township. Born on July 26, 1926, in Pleasant Gap, PA, he was the son of the late Wilbur and May (Baney) Saxion. In Cumberland, Maryland, in 1948, he married Marion (Houser) Saxion, who preceded him in death on January 4, 2007.
He attended Pleasant Gap, Lemont, State College and Bellefonte Area Schools.
Fred was a Veteran who served in the United States Army. For his services he received the Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge, Good Conduct Medal, European, African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal and WWII Victory Medal.
He was a lifetime member of the Undine Fire Company, Veteran of Foreign Wars Post # 1600 and Disabled American Veterans.
Fred is survived by his son, Kenneth Saxion of Bellefonte, one brother, Thomas Saxion of Centre Hall and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by five brothers; Paul, Hugh, Homer, Ned, Jack and one sister, Rose.
There will be a public visitation held on Wednesday, November 14, 2012, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc in Bellefonte, with funeral services immediately following with Pastor Tom Harris officiating.
Burial with full military honors will follow in Meyer Cemetery, Benner Township.
