Mrs. Genevieve (Buranovsky) Larson, 94, of State College and formerly of Ramey, passed away, Saturday, March 6, 2010, at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College.

Born on Aug. 15, 1915, in Ramey, the daughter of the late Martin P. and Mary H. (Zelinsky) Buranovsky. Mrs. Larson attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania and was a graduate of Penn State University where she received a Bachelors Degree and Masters Degree in Education.

She was employed for 38 years in the Moshannon Valley School District. Eighteen years as a classroom teacher and twenty years as Guidance Counselor. On Valentine's Day, 1963 she married her fellow colleague Arvid J. "Ace" Larson who preceded her in death on July 31, 2008. She also was preceded in death by her brother, Leonard E. Buranovsky, founder of the Buranovsky Funeral Home, Ramey.

Mrs. Larson is survived by a two sister-in-laws and three brothers-in-laws and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was a parishioner of Christ The King Catholic Church, Houtzdale and also of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, State College, and a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, St. Victoria's Court, Houtzdale; the Christ The King Rosary Society; the Pennsylvania Association of Retired School Employees; the National Educators Association; a life member of the Penn State Alumni Association a past member of the Nittany Lion Club and a past member of the Philipsburg County Club.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, March 9, 2010, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and on Wednesday, March, 10, 2010, from 11:30 a.m.-12:15 p.m. at the Kruise Funeral Home, Inc. Ramey. The Catholic Daughters of the Americas and Christ The King Rosary Society will recite the Rosary at 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, in the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m., Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at Christ The King Catholic Church, Houtzdale, with Very Rev. Fr. Gregory A. Kirsch as celebrant. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Brisbin.
