George Henry Fox (Jack) Estright, or as most people knew him called him "Jack", 78, of Milesburg, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 15, 2010, at Centre Crest after battlling cancer for over four years.
He was a good-hearted person, and very out going and very active. Born June 18, 1931, in Wingate, he was a son of the late Kenneth C. and Thelma Grubb Estright. After the passing of his mother, he was raised by his step-mother, Mary Furl Estright. Jack attended school in Enola, then later graduated from East Pennsboro High School through a GED Program. In Jan., 1951, he joined the US Marine Corp and served his country for three years, as a proud Marine. He was also an active and proud member of the American Legion in Enola. He was a member of the retired Electrician Union in the Harrisburg area. He worked at Three Mile Island and Peach Bottom as well as many other major projects. Jack also loved hunting, fishing, playing cards, and the Penn National Track.
George will be sadly missed by family members and friends, including his long time and loving friend, Dixie Lucas of Coleville. He is survived by two sons, George Estright of Harrisburg and Christopher Estright of Highspire; two sisters, Shirley Ann Blackburn of Celina, Texas, and Cathy King of Enola; three brothers, Donald Estright, James Estright, and Danny Estright, all of Enola; and three grandchildren, Kristen, Leah and Anthony. In addition to his parents and step-mother, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dawn Drawbaugh Estright, his second wife, Joanne Estright, a daughter, Wanda Lee and a son, Tommy Estright; three sisters, Pauline Beissel, Joann Cubb, and Olive Kerchner; and two brothers, Gerald Estright, and Mike Estright.
Memorial Services will be held at the Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home, Milesburg, Saturday, July 17, 2010 at 11 A.M. with Pastor Ellen Scamahorn officiating, where Millitary Honors will be accorded. Friends will be received Saturday, July 17, 2010 from 10-11 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
