Obituary of Gerald Barr, 75

Gerald “Jerry” Barr, 75, of Bellefonte, passed away Wednesday, November 25, in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 18, 1940 in Tyrone to the late George R. & Valmeda (Meek) Barr.

Jerry retired from Penn State University Department of Chemistry where he worked as a lab technician. He enjoyed woodworking crafting many gifts for family members. He also served as the family’s handyman fixing just about anything that needed fixing. He also loved to hunt.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his Son Charles R. Barr & Grandson Ryan Madison Brown.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 55 years Rebecca (Chamberlin-Harvey) Barr, daughter Tina (Brian) Ishler, of Bellefonte, son James Barr of Bellefonte, daughter Jessie (Aaron) Zellers of Howard, 3 grandsons Harry (Andrea) Brown III of Frederick, MD, Matthew Brown of Auburn, GA, Hunter Zellers of Howard, 2 granddaughters Elizabeth (David) Chung of Damascus, MD, Michelle (Sidney) Jansen Van Vuuren of Gaithersburg, MD, great grandson Daniel Chung and great granddaughter’s Alana Brown & Saya Jansen Van Vuuren, brother George (Diane) Barr, sister Darla (Bob) Franks, sister- in-law Cynthia Harvey and his loyal dog Sadie Mae.

A memorial service will be held at the Salem UCC Church, Spring Mills at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 5, with Reverend Dawn Marie Meier officiating. Inurnment will follow in Church Cemetery.
