Gerald H. Moyer, 85, of Bellefonte, passed away Monday, February 8, 2016, at the home of his son Randall, with his loving family by his side. Born on December 25, 1930, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Edward and Nelly Rossman Moyer. He married Betsy Harshberger Moyer who survives at home.
He is a 1949 graduate of the Bellefonte Area High School.
Gerald worked at Con-Lime where he retired after 47 years of service. He was also a motor route carrier for the Centre Daily Times in the evenings from 1970 to 1978. He delivered from the CDT Plant to Woodward and back to Potters Mills six days a week.
He was a lifetime member of the Undines Fire Hall in Bellefonte and also a member of the National Rifle Association.
He was an avid woodworker and a talented painter of still life and landscapes. He was also passionate about feeding birds and caring for stray animals.
Along with his wife Gerald is survived by four sons; Gilbert Moyer and his wife Rita of Bellefonte, Gary Moyer of Zion, Jeffrey Moyer and his wife Cynthia of West Decatur, and Randall Moyer and his wife Gina of Bellefonte, one brother, Dorsey Moyer of Bellefonte, one sister, Sandra Wolfe, eight grandchildren; Laura Moyer, Jason Moyer, Aaron Moyer, Kelly Moyer (Jon Leonard), Dustin Moyer (Joanna), Angela Mitchell (Keith) Abbie Moyer, and Alexander Moyer, and six great grandchildren; Jordyn Moyer, Natalie Leonard, Emma Leonard, Hunter Moyer, Gabriel Moyer, and Wyatt Mitchell.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by one brother, Wayne Moyer.
There will be a public viewing held Thursday, February 11, 2016, from 6pm until 8pm, at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 North Spring Street, Bellefonte, PA.
Services for those who wish to attend will be held at 5pm, prior to the viewing, at the funeral home, with Pastor Tim Yates officiating.
Burial at Meyer Cemetery, in Benner Township, will be private at the convenience of the family.
