Harold Frank Park, Cdr. USNR (Ret), aged 99 years, passed into his heavenly home on Friday morning, August 5, 2011. Miriam, his wife of 75 years, was at his side.
He was born on March 3, 1912 in Lancaster Co., PA, the only child of Mary J. LeFevre and Earl W. Park.
He graduated from Drexel Institute of Electrical Engineering. He retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Rural Electrification Administration and from the U.S. Navy Reserve as a Commander.
During the mid 1970's, he helped in establishing Val Med in Dry Run. In 1980, he established the Fannettsburg Wildlife Foundation in order to save the Fannettsburg Lake and to keep a place for the security of wildlife native to the area.
In addition, he published a genealogical book on family history and another on the history of the Lower Path Valley Presbyterian Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, and three grandchildren. He is survived by his wife and two daughters in Fannettsburg and a foster sister. In addition, he is also survived by four grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and seven great great grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be held at the Lower Path Valley Presbyterian Church on Saturday, August 13 at 11 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Lower Path Valley Presbyterian Church in Fannettsburg; the Disabled Veterans Organizations; or to the Metal Township Fire Department in Fannettsburg.
