Jean G. Divany, 74, of Jacksonville, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on May 3, 2010.

Born on Aug. 3, 1935, in Jersey Shore, she was the daughter of the late James G. and Florence Bird Goodman. On Aug. 31, 1957, in Jersey Shore she married Richard B. Divany who survives at home. Jean was a 1953 graduate of Jersey Shore High School. She attended Lycoming College and Williamsport Community College. Early in her career she was employed at The Pennsylvania State University and the Paul V. Renoff Company in Baltimore, Md. She then devoted her life to being a homemaker and mother.

She was a charter member of the Sweet Adeline's Barbershop Chorus and earlier she had been a member of Junior Women's Club of State College, the HRB Women's Club and served for several years as a Girl Scout leader and trainer. Jean loved her family, dogs, music, dancing, flowers and shopping.

She is survived by her husband; daughter, Sharon and her husband David Holdridge; granddaughter, Kayley Holdridge; and grandson Tanner Holdridge, all of State College. She is also survived by brothers-in-law, Robert E. Stover, of Howard, Robert L Divany and his wife Beverly, of Pleasant Gap; sister-in-law Janice Wilson, of Johnsonburg. Also surviving are nieces Valerie Anderson, of Jacksonville, Julie Stover, of Pittsburgh and Suzanne Fannin, of Ridgway. She was cared for at home for the past year by Valerie Owens-Echol, to whom the family is most grateful. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death, by her daughter, Patricia, in 2003; and sister, Kay Stover, in 2009.

Family and friends will be received from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, May 4, 2010, at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 6, 2010, at the funeral home with the Rev. Richard Wall officiating.
