A State College woman has been crowned Ms. Pennsylvania Senior America.

Tammy Miller won the recognition on Sunday in Harrisburg at what is dubbed “the world’s first and foremost pageant to emphasize and give honor to women who have reached the ‘Age of Elegance.’” She will represent the commonwealth at the Ms. Senior America pageant in October in Atlantic City.

Miller, 66, was among contestants 60 and older from throughout Pennsylvania who were judged in four categories: interview, talent, evening gown and philosophy of life.

She is a Realtor with Keller Williams Realty and an auctioneer, as well as an accomplished motivational speaker who is a past International Director and Accredited Speaker with Toastmasters International — a distinction held by fewer than 100 people worldwide. She has written several books and has taught at Penn State.

Miller is also a tour guide for Fullington Trailways.

“Many know Tammy for her dedication as a Fullington Tour Attendant since 2018, but her talents and community involvement extend far beyond the motorcoach,” Fullingon wrote in a social media post this week. “Through her passion for serving others, Tammy continues to make a positive impact throughout our communities.”

Miller’s deep community involvement includes serving as president of the board for Pennsylvania Pink Zone and she is a breast cancer survivor herself. In fact, she told Town&Gown in May that her role as self-appointed Pink Zone mascot — wearing hot pink feathered boas and sequins — during the annual Penn State women’s basketball game benefiting the breast cancer charity first brought Ms. Pennsylvania Senior America to her attention.

“This woman came up to me and she goes, ‘Oh my gosh, you’ve got to be in our pageant,’” Miller said. “I’m like, ‘Wait. Where are the cameras? Come on. What are you talking about?’ … I’ve never been in a pageant in my life.”

She didn’t enter at the time, but in October 2025 the pageant’s reigning queen was in attendance when Miller spoke at the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition Conference and encouraged her to enter.

This time she did. And though she knew it wouldn’t be easy, Miller felt her many life experiences helped give her confidence that she could stand a chance.

Ms. Senior America’s philosophy “is based on the belief that seniors are the foundation of America, and our most valuable treasure. It is upon their knowledge, experience and resources that the younger generation has the opportunity to build a better society.”

It’s a philosophy that Miller embodies through her many professional, volunteer and personal pursuits.

“I have two grandchildren, [ages] 10 and 11, and I want them to see their grammy at 66 years old trying new things,” she told Town&Gown, “and I hope one day they’ll be able to think about that themselves like, ‘Gee, I’ve never done that. Well, what would Grammy do? Let’s do it and let’s make it happen.’”

In addition to the Pink Zone, Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition and Toastmasters, Miller’s community involvement includes Rotary International, The Jared Box Project, Leadership Centre County and numerous women’s organizations.

She says her greatest joys are her faith, family and being “Adventure Grammy” to her grandchildren, Andrew and Grace.
