Jeanette Hoy Garner, 86, of Bellefonte, passed away Tuesday, May 06, 2014, with family at her side. A daughter of the late Patrick and Pearl (Butler) Hoy, she was born on September 10, 1927, in Port Matilda. She was married to Joseph Garner, Jr, who preceded her in death in November of 1983.

She had worked as a nurse’s aide at Centre Crest, retiring after 13 years of service.

She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, loved going to Grange Fair, reading and doing crossword puzzles. She was a member of the New Hope United Methodist Church in Bellefonte.

Jeanette is survived by two daughters; Deborah Benner and her husband Joseph of Bellefonte, Bonnie Garner and her fiancé Jim Burris of Bellefonte, one son, Greg Garner and his wife Sue of Hummelstown, daughter-in-law, Karin Garner of Bellefonte, two sisters; Irene Harpster of Fairview, Geraldine Reed of Fort McCoy FL, and one brother, Charles Butler of Philipsburg. Also surviving are eight grandchildren; Amy Benner, Annie Garner and her companion George Craig, Joseph Garner, Joshua Garner and his wife Jessica, Jeremy Garner and his wife Lindsey, Jared King, Joel King, Jason King, along with four great-grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by one son, Terry Garner, two brothers and two sisters.

A public visitation will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2014, from 2-3 pm, at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 N. Spring St., Bellefonte, PA, with the funeral service to immediately follow visitation, at 3 pm, with Pastor Stephen Hicks officiating the service. Burial will follow in Meyer Cemetery, Benner Township.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to New Hope United Methodist Church, Building Fund, PO Box 144, Mingoville, PA 16856.
