Jeanne T. Confer, 89, of State College, passed away on January 7, 2012 at Mount Nittany Medical Center. Born on January 20, 1922, in Hartford, Conn., she was the daughter of the late Henry V. & Pauline Way Turner. On October 23, 1943, in Kane, PA, she married Max F. Confer, who survives at home.
Jeanne is a 1939 graduate of Kane High School and a 1942 graduate of the Pennsylvania State University, where she earned her Bachelors.
Jeanne was a food inspector for the US Department of Agriculture in 1943-1944. In 1952, she became a schoolteacher for the Bellefonte Area School District, retiring in 1982.
Jeanne is a member of the Pine Grove Mills Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the State College Woman’s Club, Pine Grove Mills VFW Auxiliary, United Community Travelers, and PSU Alumni Association.
Jeanne is survived by her husband, children; Clark H. Confer and his wife, Patricia, of Roper, NC and Carol L. Confer of Currituck, NC. Also surviving are her two grandchildren, Alaina Anderson and Amanda Dusza and three step great grandchildren, Devin, Breanna, and Ryan Dusza.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Martha Way Spangler
Friends will be received on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 from 6-8pm at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, 106 W. Sycamore St, Snow Shoe. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at 11am with Rev. Carl Campbell officiating. Burial will be at Askey Cemetery, Snow Shoe Twp.
