Jeffrey Scott Edgington, 50, of State College, originally from Tonawanda, N.Y., died Friday, Oct. 23, 2009, at The Atrium at the Village at Penn State. Born July 16, 1959, in Buffalo, N.Y., he was a son of Larry and Barbara Stadel Edgington, of Tonawanda, N.Y. On May 28, 1983, he married Mary Jane Guthrie, who survives at home.
He graduated from Sweet Home High School in Amherst, N.Y., in 1977. He attended West Virginia University, and graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in 1983 with a bachelor's degree in horticulture. He worked as a horticulturist for several private companies. Jeffrey was a scuba diver, gardener and dog lover. He enjoyed all sports, cooking, and rock and roll music. He was also an avid reader.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by a sister, Kelly Maitland, of Bellefonte; and a brother, Randy Edgington and his wife, Heide, of Williamsville, N.Y.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009, and from 1 to 2 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 26, at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College. His funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Monday Oct. 26, 2009, at the funeral home, with David Guthrie and Jerry Holcombe officiating.
