Keith E. Freeman, 76, of State College, went home to be with his Lord, Thursday, May 7, 2015 at Mt. Nittany Medical Center, State College.
He was born Nov. 28, 1938, in Lawrence Park, PA; a son of the late Van Lloyd Herman Freeman and Margaret Anderson Freeman.
On November 27, 1999 he married Kimberly Prinkey who survives at home.
Keith graduated from Wesleyville High School, and while serving in the U. S. Navy, took advantage of several college level courses. During his time in the Navy from April 1, 1957 to November 5, 1958 with the USNTC, he earned the rank of Seaman Apprentice.
He went to work for Corning Glass, working his way up through the levels of responsibility and retiring from an engineering management position at the State College Plant after more than thirty five years of service.
Among the things he enjoyed most were reading, crossword puzzles, vegetable and flower gardening, keeping his lawn in a constant state of perfection, studying World War II History with an extremely keen interest in military airplanes of that era; and repairing all kinds of things. He had a very strong engineering and mechanical aptitude, and shared those skills willingly to help others. He was an avid Penn State football fan, and a Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
He was a life member of the U. S. Naval Institute; he held a membership with the Military Book Club and with the Flagship Niagara League with a level of Captain. Additionally, Keith was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge 1600, Boalsburg. He attended State College Assembly of God Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife Kimberly, are three children, Kathy nee Freeman Gwynne-Thomas and spouse Beth of Live Oak Florida, Keith Freeman (Rachele) of Colorado Springs Co and Timothy Freeman (Samantha) of Columbia SC; eight grandchildren, Casey, Max, Avery, Alex, Noah, Stephen, Elliot, and Ava, one sister Marilyn Coleman (Ron) of Erie; two brothers, Van Freeman (Joan), and Kent Freeman (Ethel) both of Erie.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Larramour Freeman.
Friends will be received from 6 – 8 p. m. Sunday, May 10, at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, and from 10:00 to 11:00 Monday, May 11, 2015 at State College Assembly of God Church, 2201 University Drive, State College. The funeral will follow immediately at 11:00 a. m. at the church.
Another visitation will be held from noon to 2:00 p. m. Tuesday, May 12 at the Dusckas Funeral Home, 2607 Buffalo Road, Erie, a graveside service with military honors, will follow at the Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery, 2601 Norcross Road, Erie.
