Kenneth D. Boone, 76 of Avis, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2011 at the Jersey Shore Hospital. He was born in Woolrich on May 15, 1933, the son of the late Horace J. and Anna Confer Boone.
He was preceded in death on May 16, 2008 by his wife of 56 years, the former Sarah J. Nearhood.
Ken worked in Maintenance at Woolrich Inc. for 45 years and also worked for Chatam Water Co. He enjoyed working on small engines and had his own lawnmower repair shop in Avis. He also enjoyed going to auctions and attending the sale barn in Antes Fort.
He is survived by a daughter; Lisa Bryant and husband Milford of Avis. He was preceded in death by his daughter; Cindy St. Clair on 12/7/10. Three sisters; Adda Walczak, Anna Liddick, and Caroline Moyer. Two brothers; Palmer and Grover Aughenbaugh. He was also preceded in death by three brothers; Lawrence, Lester and Harry Boone and also by two sisters; Bessie McDonald and Mae Boone. He is also survived by six grandchildren; Candy Laubscher, Scott Condo, Amy, Sasha, Ashley and Milford Bryant and also by seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Kader-Neff Funeral Home, 135 W. Main Street, Howard, with the Pastor Tom Jones officiating. Burial will be at the Highland Cemetery, Howard. There will be a public visitation Monday, May 16, 2011 from 6 – 8:00 p.m. at the Kader-Neff Funeral Home.
