Obituary of Laurie E 'Ed' Gilliland, 85

Laurie E. “Ed” Gilliland, 85, of Boalsburg, passed away at his home on Friday, August 10, 2018. Born on November 26, 1932, in Oak Hall, he was the son of the late David C. and Anna Rishel Gilliland.
A father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend to many.

Ed is survived by four children, several grandchildren, and two sisters.

In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother.

In his earlier days, Ed enjoyed trips out west and to Florida. He enjoyed the simple things in life, hunting, fishing, and watching the wildlife in his back yard.

Ed was known to many in and around Centre County. A simple man of sorts, a “mountain man” to others. He was to many a “little rough around the edges”, but to those closest to him, he was a kind soul with a good heart and always appreciated what folks did for him. Ed enjoyed his humble life to the fullest and will be greatly missed by those closest to him.

Visitation will be on Monday, August 13, 2018 from 10:30am until the time of the service at 11:30am at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Centre Hall. Funeral service will be at 11:30am at the funeral home with Pastor Rebecca Horn officiating. Burial will follow at the Boalsburg Cemetery.
