Louise E. Gunsallus, formerly of Runville, 68, lost her courageous battle of lung and brain cancer at her home in Elizabethtown, Pa., on Tuesday, March 2, 2010. Born March 26, 1941, in Boggs Twp., she was a daughter of the late John L. and Mildred Tubridy Summers.
She was a 1959 graduate of Bald Eagle Area High School. She married R. Wayne Gunsallus on November 19, 1960. He survives at home. She worked in housekeeping at Penn State Main Campus and then in the food service department at M.S. Hershey Medical Center retiring in 1998 after 25 years of service.
She was a member of the Runville United Methodist Church. She loved bingo, Hollywood Casino, camping and traveling. She was a member of Pleasant Gap Grange for 38 years.
In addition to her husband she is survived by one son, Barry (Jorgia) Gunsallus, of Elizabethtown; two sisters, Barbara Wright, of Camp Hill and Thressa J. Walker, of Jonestown; one grandchild, Zena Gunsallus; three step-granchildren, Jessica Bair, Dylan Bair and Cierra Bair; three great-grandchildren, Mason Burger, Zoe Gunsallus and Khalill McCann; sister and brother in-laws, Mary and Robert Hotzel, of Villages, Fla., Harold and Jane Gunsallus, of Runville, Mabel Summers, and Beulah Summers. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by a son Timothy Gunsallus; six brothers, Wayne Summers, Jim Summers, Robert Summers, Raymond Summers, Nevin Summers, Earl Summers; three sisters, Rita Kay Daughenbaugh, Genieve Tierney and Joanne Summers.
Friends will be received at Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home, Milesburg on Friday, March 5, 2010, 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 6, 2010, 11 a.m., at the funeral home, with Pastor Douglas Mellott officiating.
