Marian Louise Barnes, 99, of State College, died Thursday, June 19, 2014, at Hearthside Nursing Home.
Born November 24, 1914, in Mansfield, she was the daughter of the late William Vermilyea and Vivian Hart. On October 16, 1935 she married Elmer W. Barnes, who preceded her in death.
She is survived by one daughter, Phyllis McGarvey, of State College; eight grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Shirley Schmidt, two brothers, one sister and three grandchildren.
She worked as a professional seamstress for sixty years. She retired in 1995.
She was a member of Pine Grove Mills Presbyterian Church.
Memorial service will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Green Hills Village with the Rev. Carl D. Campbell officiating.
