Marjorie L. “Peg” Rhine, 85, of Howard, died Sunday, August 16, 2015, at Haven Skilled Rehab in Lock Haven. She was born in Smullton on July 15, 1930, a daughter of the late Roy and Grace Smull Brungart. Earl E. Herb” Rhine, her husband of over 61 years, died July 26, 2015.
Peg was a homemaker, but also did seamstress work for many people in the area. She was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Snydertown, where she taught Sunday School, was a member of the choir and ladies quilters.
Peg had a true love of making people laugh. She enjoyed plays and for many years was a active participant with the Off B.E.N. Avenue Follies. She was an avid cook and baker and was known in the area for her Peg's Pickles.
She is survived by two daughters, Barbara (David) Eichenlaub, of Lock Haven and Beverly (Liz Toukonen) Rhine, of Milesburg; one son, Keith (Jean) Rhine, of Huntingdon Beach, Calif; two brothers, Rodney Brungart, of Lock Haven and Jerry (Marilyn) Brungart, of Louisiana; three grandchildren; and one great granddaughter. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Bill Rhine, in 1979; and a grandson, Justin Rhine, in 2006.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 850 Snydertown Road, Howard, with Rev. Ruth Jensen officiating. Burial will be in Snydertown Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 19, 2015, from 6-8 p.m. at Kader-Neff Funeral Home, 135 W. Main St., Howard.
