Martha Ann Fisher Mensch, 69, passed peacefully on Saturday, March 5, 2016. She was born in Bellefonte, PA, the daughter of Wilford Lee Fisher and Ebeth Claire Swartz Fisher.
A 1965 graduate of Bellefonte High School, she graduated from Penn Hall Jr. College in Chambersburg. She received a degree in Interior Design from Art Institute of Pittsburgh in 1971.
She worked for Wolf Furniture as an interior designer in Altoona and Bellefonte.
After graduation from South Hills Business School, Martie worked for Weinken Associates.
Martie retired from The Pennsylvania State University in 2003 with 25 years of service. Her first 10 years were with PENNTAP, Pennsylvania Technical Associates Program. The next 15 years she worked as a staff assistant to the station operations manager of WPSU. Martie was a life long communicant member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Bellefonte. She was part of the Win One Class and had been active with the annual church Christmas Bazaar.
Martie was a 28 year member of the Bellefonte Business and Professional Women of Bellefonte. She actively served on many projects and offices. She was a member of the Bellefonte Chapter of the Daughters of the Amercian Revolutin.
In November 1982, she married Charles Mensch, Jr. who survives at home. She is survived by 8 cousins; Joanne Fisher, Donald Fisher, Jr., Adelaide Fisher Rice, Larry Swartz, Charles F. Swartz, III, Sharleen Swartz Yarroll, Michael Swartz, Susan Q. Swartz. Also surviving is one aunt by marriage, Sylvia Q. Swartz.
There will be a public visitation held on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 from 10:00am until 11:00am, at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 N. Spring Street, Bellefonte, funeral services will be held at 11:00 am at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, her request was to have memorial contributions to the Trinity United Methodist Church, 128 West Howard Street, Bellefonte, PA 16823. Pets Come First, 2451 General Potter Highway, Tusseyville, PA or PAWS.
