Mary Josephine "Joey" Bjalme, 90, of Sycamore Manor in Williamsport, PA died on March 9, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. at the Gatehouse in Williamsport. She was born on February 27, 1922 in Ilion, N.Y., the daughter of the late Norman Philip and Anna Josephine Fry LeVan. She was raised in Williamsport, PA and was a 1940 graduate of Williamsport High School. On September 6, 1941 she married Torsten Valde Bjalme who preceded her in death in 2005. She was also preceded in death by her eldest son, Torsten, Jr. in 2010, and her loving Sister Norma Heim in 2007. She is survived by four sons; Phillip (Donna) of North Lauderdale, FL; Richard (Peggy) of Bellefonte; Carl (Connie) of Bellefonte; Terry (Pam) of Potters Mills and her daughter-in-law MaryAnn of State College. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. In addition she is survived by her sister Grace Kinley of Williamsport who provided care, loving support and companionship during her last years, a brother, Norman LeVan, of Muncy, PA and many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to raising five sons, Mary worked at Penn State University for nearly 20 years in the College of Education, retiring in 1983. A talented seamstress and homemaker, she also enjoyed traveling with her husband and taking care of her Yorkies. Private funeral services will be scheduled at a later date.
