Born Mary Louise Shive on November 3, 1929 in Snow Shoe, she was the daughter of the late Leona M. (Rader) and Harry W. Shive.

She was an active member of Queen of Archangels Chapel (formerly St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church) in Snow Shoe where she volunteered as organist for 35 years. She was also a member of the Altar and Rosary Society there.

Mary graduated from Snow Shoe High School in 1947 and the Lock Haven State Teacher’s College (now Lock Haven University) in 1951 with a B.S. in Elementary Education. She received a Certificate to teach Special Education from The Pennsylvania State University. She taught elementary and special education students in the Lycoming and Bald Eagle Area School Districts from 1951 – 1962. She continued in the education field as a substitute teacher from the late 1960’s until 1986.
Mary is survived by three daughters, Mary Anne Raymond, of Snow Shoe, married to Frank R. Raymond II, Kathleen M. Massar, of Lancaster, married to Brian D. Massar, and Eileen C. Doherty of Snow Shoe. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Justin J. Raymond, Jenna M. Raymond, fiancée of Bradley A. Meyer, and Brendan F. Massar.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry J. Shive and John A. Shive.

Mary enjoyed visiting with friends and playing cards with her card group. However, one of her greatest joys was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
